MEXICAN MARAGOGYPE

Often referred to as Elephant Beans, Maragogype is a village in Brazil where, many years ago, a very peculiar discovery was made. On several coffee trees it was noticed that huge coffee beans were growing, the like of which had never been seen before. Cuttings were taken from these trees and these also went on to produce coffee beans at least three times their normal size. Nowadays Maragogype, as this coffee came to be known, is grown in several Central American countries – the best comes from Mexico. These large beans produce a mild cup with little acidity - delicate in body, an excellent morning coffee.
